Agua de Carabaña medicinal and mineral spring is located in the town of Carabaña, 50 kilometres away from Madrid. The unique properties of this water were already appreciated by Romans. Since antiquity it has been continuously used for body care with both internal and external benefits as it has been traditionally considered as a real gift of Mother Nature.

The spring of Carabaña water is located 50 Km away from Madrid. Renowned since Roman times, having its golden age in the XIX century, the water springs out of the soil in its natural composition right from the place called Cabeza Gorda Hill.
Its qualities were well known by countrymen and shepherds of the area, who contributed to propagate its properties as they already used it as a natural remedy to stay healthy.

In the middle 1800’s the water was distributed in carafes all over nearby places and was used to treat various ailments .

THE INDUSTRY IS BORN

In the late XIX century our family acquired the property of the spring and the surrounding lands and built a spa which became very popular. Its products were taken to quite a few Universal Expositions having obtained twelve gold medals and ten honour diplomas among other public recognition.

At the end of the XIX century, the so-called mining industry of Carabaña Medicinal Waters ‘The Favourite’ was born. Don Ruperto Jacinto Chavarri takes on the responsibility of ordering the first chemical analysis of the water and initiates an incipient marketing policy for the company supported by practitioners who guarantee the richness of its natural minerals compound. The natural mix is of an unique proportion which avails for its beneficial efffects in digestive, intestinal and hepatic ailments, concerning internal use, and dermatitis and oily skin treatment as of external use.

THE MOST NATURAL MEDICINAL WATER

Carabaña's minero-medicinal water is taken to Universal exhibitions and medical congresses of the time, gaining recognition worldwide. The Paris Universal Exhibition Paris held in 1889 was the top event in which the product obtained worlwide recognition.

At the beginning of the XX century, Carabaña water is commercialized both in Europe and America, where an astonishing figure of four million bottles were sold in the 1930’s.

The beneficial effects of our products became so well renown all over the world that Nobel Price Santiago Ramón y Cajal carried out a personal research in order to analyze fully its properties and subsequent to this research, in 1928 the product was awarded ‘Highly recommended for Public Use’.

In early XX century our products were already sold in many other countries apart from Spain: France and Italy but also overseas, Cuba and Panama.
